Newsletter 1
When we started the Victor Linford Foundation in March, 2004, we did not dare to
guess what kind of results we could expect: was this indeed the right way to give
shape to the maintenance of the enormous body of work by Victor Linford, the
brilliant visual artist who had left us so suddenly in 2002 ?
More than half a year has passed now - which may be a long time for those who
registered as supporters of our Foundation, and are eager to know what kind of
activities they can expect. But we soon found out that we needed this first period
fully to create a solid base for a non-profit organization such as the Victor Linford
Foundation.
Well, dear donors, co-operators and other supporters: that base is now a fact ! So
from this day on we will inform you regularly about the state of affairs and
proceedings. As announced before, we will do that by news letter, to be published on
our website, or to be sent by mail for those who are not using Internet.
In this first News Letter, we have the following announcements:
Donors
Thank you, all our paying members, many of whom have made extra gifts beside the
minimum fee of 15,-- Euro. Please spread the word, and try to interest people around you
in joining our Foundation !
There are still some subscribers who haven't paid their donation so far. They all
should have received a reminder by now !
Activities
The first good news is brought to you by the VLF Campaign Team of Marleen
Rodenburg & Hanneke Vonk, who are currently organizing a big Victor Linford
Memorial Exhibition at the Delta Art Gallery in Nijmegen, Holland, where Mr.
Linford himself had one of his impressive shows in 1992.
The Grand Opening of this first VLF exhibition will be on May 21st, 2005 - exactly
the day when Victor Linford would have reached the age of 65!
We couldn't think of a better posthumous homage to the Man !
We might need your assistance here !
In case you own one or more works by Victor Linford, and you consider them
sufficiently important to be shown at this Memorial Exhibition (and they all should
be, of course…), please drop us a line asap, by e-mail or otherwise, including
category (oil, drawing etc.), dimensions, title, year, and possibly a picture. All
senders will be informed about the final selection before April, 2005, and if we pick
one of your works, you may be assured that it will be fully insured during the entire
exhibition period, including transport.
Archive
Many VLF members have already submitted descriptions and pictures of Linford
works in their possession, which are being carefully stored into the VLF Archive.
And we want more !
For completion of this archive, we would also highly appreciate any reports (or copies!)
of photographs, videos, correspondence, press articles, books etc., in connection
with the life and times of Mr. Victor Linford.
